 Ministry Leader Blog
Monday, 30 March 2009

Hello and welcome.

I have to tell you that I'm a new learner to all these new tools, such as blogging. Blogging? Five years ago, if someone told me that I was going to be blogging in 2009 I would have thought I was participating in a new winter Olympic sport. Sounds like a cross between bobsledding and tobogganing..NOT, rather it's a tool and a proven method of communicating with others that seek what's happening. Here you'll hear about Morning Star Fellowship, Bechtelsville Celebrate Recovery. As I use this tool for the very first time I'd like to tell you the importance of using CR as a tool in you recoveries.

Have you ever had a split finger nail and chose to rip it off rather then go for the nail clippers? I have, and many times I've caused myself pain because of my lack of effort to go get the proper tool. How many times in our recoveries have we hurt ourselves by choosing to take the easy, quick, effortless way and ignoring the proper tool? But I have to share with you that thousands have made that long walk across the parking lot to gain access to the proper tool in their recoveries. As a result we have taken the first few steps towards our recoveries and Christ, conquering their past hurts, habits and hung-ups. Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Also, there have been times when a pocket knife has come in handy as a screwdriver. Again it has caused me pain and was dangerous to those around me. How many times have we hurt ourselves or others because we used the wrong tool in our recoveries? Self help books, medicine, secular recovery groups and our own will powers have helped some and for others for only a short time. But CR is a Christ centered recovery group, Jesus is our only higher power. With Jesus on our side anything is possible. He is the healer and he loves us and wants to help us. In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus tells us, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Many times at my work I have seen "want to be cooks" hurt themselves because they use a knife that should have never been in their hands to begin with. Worse I've seen others burned because others mishandled tools of the trade. If CR was a tool in our hands we would hurt ourselves and others, but thankfully CR is a tool in the mighty hands of our Father. God uses CR as a tool to guide us to a place where healing can begin. He is the reason so many have found freedom from shame and guilt at CR. Not to mention CR is Based on the ultimate tool of tools...the Bible. CR's eight principles are based on the Beatitudes Jesus preached in Matthew 5:1-10.

CR is also a safe place, no we don't wear hard hats and goggles but we do use the five guide lines that you'll find in the About CR link on the home page. Safety is very important and it makes the new comers feel comfortable to use this new tool they have found.

I hope you come to visit again.
Remember CR is the best place to be on a Tuesday night.

Be blessed and Journal.
